Hey everyone, I am not dead, lol.
I was prompted to log in today after looking to show some old photos to a friend.
As I believe I mentioned was going to happen in my previous journal, I have been here studying abroad in the UK. I arrived on the last Friday in January.
(An aside about homesickness : I thought it might be strange that I have not been at all homesick, but asking some people I found that this is perfectly normal for one's first time living (truly) on his or her own. Although, I did get a little homesick this past Friday evening, as I had gone sight-seeing, and, on my way back home to my dorm, things felt weird. The trip made me feel like I was on vacation, and I saw families around, which made me think of road trips with my family. So, on the way back, I felt like I was going home home. so, when I got back to my dorm, it felt like I was still traveling; like my homeward journey wasn't over. It was a strange and down feeling, as I've felt so at home here since week 1. Luckily that feeling went away, as I have gotten busy again as usual.)
Anyway, I have not been on here in nearly a year, and have not been active on here for about two years. I still have a massive backlog of photography I can upload, and several new drawings I can share.
Although I have been busy living life and what not, I have been active in some other communities.
I have noticed that, for me, social media tends to cycle. I go through periods where I am super active in one or two communities, semi active in a couple others, and the rest fall by the wayside. I was super active here before, and was neglecting tumblr at the time. Presently, I am super active on reddit and facebook, regularly checking on twitter, and letting tumblr and dA fall off the map.
But I have not forgotten about you.
Since I've been here, in addition to skill points in social and practical life experiences, I have also picked up some new skills, such as knitting and Harvard style notation (APA and MLA were all I'd ever used).
I also have my studio condenser mic with me, and have used it to make recordings when I feel like it. I am gearing up for some YouTube stuff (first off, an update vid, then some narrations and covers); I have made a Sound cloud account (on which I will post unofficial stuff, meaning acapella covers and things I recorded for other people).
So, here are a couple of things that I have posted on Reddit, which would also be applicable to DA:
This story in response to a prompt about a serial killer (references violence): www.reddit.com/r/WritingPrompt…
(it is in three comments bc of character limit, so just follow my comment reply string)
This drawing for a 4th grade class's story book: imgur.com/2bordiM
And my Sound Cloud account, which atm only contains something I recorded for someone (again from reddit) to help with their project (I recorded it before my mic joined me here and while having a chest cold, so yeah, it is really soft, sorry) : soundcloud.com/kinetic-passion
Anyway, I will post another update when I have more things to share, and I will likely post a photo of my first completed knitting project (a Harry Potter scarf with which I am almost done).
So I will be reviving my profile soon.
P.S: (If any of you read this whole thing) Should I change my picture on my profile? Not the icon, the chibi of me and my ex. I've left it there so far because it looks nice, but I was thinking I should change it for obvious reasons. Thoughts?
edit: today I also just cleaned out my journal on here, by which I mean deleted nearly if not all of the spammy giveaway posts (they were all at least a year old, most older, so entirely unnecessary to keep.

Un-watching
I may have said this before, but, I followed a lot of people through points donors a long time ago, and, well, my inbox is atrocious.
since it has been over two years, I hope no one will feel offended by this.
I am currently following over 500 users.
I am going to clean up my account by unfollowing those whom I (regrettably) followed only because of point donors. I believe that is at least a third of the people a follow.
I am only unwatching those watched for points and no other reason.
If I have any artistic or personal reason to continue to watch someone I will. This is only to clean out those whom I wat
a note about the october contest
As you probably know, I didn't get many entries or suggestions for that contest, not enough to call out winners, but I will give llamas now to anyone who did participate if I haven't already.
Thank you
edit: nevermind, I already gave the llamas. There were two participants...
News (misfortunes, happy discoveries, new plans)
I have had a lot of things going on this year so far, like getting laid off, relationship issues, family problems, and finding out the surprise/hard way that, while applying to any other type of school or program, you submit your transcripts with your application, but when applying to law school, you have to submit them a couple months in advance, to LSAC (law school admissions counsel), which digests them into a report to send to the schools, charges you for this required inconvenience, and then charges to send each individual report. And you have to use a particular form to request the transcripts to be sent to LSAC (they don't just give y
Ok, contest time (180 points and other goodies)
I know I have not been active lately, but I have ben inspired to hold a contest.
I saw this on facebook https://www.facebook.com/abcnews/posts/10151950674073812 Apparently there is a riddle going around, and people who get it wrong have to change thier fb profile pic into a giraffe. The riddle is as follows:
"3:00 am, the doorbell rings and you wake up. Unexpected visitors, It's your parents and they are there for breakfast. You have strawberry jam, honey, wine, bread and cheese. What is the first thing you open?"
I knew the answer as soon as I read it; the article didn't have the answer in it, but I know I am right. I think it is prett
